Myasthenic Crisis: Symptom Management Myasthenic crisis is a complication of myasthenia characterised by worsening muscle weakness, in particular, difficulty with breathing – resulting in respiratory failure that requires intubation and mechanical ventilation. A crisis can be life-threatening if medical intervention is not sought. Around 15-20% of myasthenic patients will experience a crisis at least once in their lifetime. Myaware have prepared the document found below in collaboration with specialist nurses and neurologists to provide guidance for patients on symptom management in the event of exacerbation or flare of their disease. There is also information directed towards family or carers so that they too feel well informed. Download our myasthenic crisis symptom management resource Manage Cookie Preferences
