Zilucoplan How it works Zilucoplan is a new medicine developed to treat those with acetylcholine receptor-positive (AChR) myasthenia gravis (MG). Zilucoplan is a complement inhibitor, meaning it works to prevent activation of the complement pathway, a key element of the immune response. Complement inhibitors can be helpful in relieving the damage that can occur at the site of communication between nerve and muscle cells that occurs in MG. How it is delivered Zilucoplan can be administered subcutaneously via injection. This can be done at home. When you have it It is administered once daily. It is currently the only once-daily gMG targeted therapeutic that can be self-administered in AChR antibody-positive MG. Side effects All new medicines can cause unwanted side effects. When starting zilucoplan, you may experience the following: · Injection site reaction · Diarrhoea · Upper respiratory tract infection · Headache If these symptoms persist, speak to your doctor.
